82, of Johnston, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at Kent Hospital, Warwick. He was the beloved husband of Catherine (Houston) DeLuca for 59 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Vincent DeLuca Sr., and Christina (Comite) DeLuca. Mr. DeLuca was a teacher for the Providence School Department for 32 years before retiring. Richard enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox, snacking, going for walks, listening to music, reading, going to yard sales, and spending time with his loyal dog Maxwell Smart.
Besides his wife Catherine, Richard is survived by his loving children, Maria DeLuca-Vaccaro and her husband Paul of North Kingstown, Richard DeLuca Jr., of East Providence, and William DeLuca Sr., and his wife Marcela of North Scituate. Richard was predeceased by his loving daughter Karyn Jean as well as his brothers Michael DeLuca, Anthony DeLuca, Vincent DeLuca Jr., Raymond DeLuca, and his sister Antoinetta Madonna. He was the cherished grandfather of Melissa DeLuca, Deanna Cordeiro, William DeLuca Jr., Katie Roberts, and Richard DeLuca III; adored great-grandfather of Eva DeLuca and Colton Roberts.
His funeral will be held on Friday, Dec. 2nd, at 10:00 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Cranston. VISITING HOURS: Friday morning from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Burial is respectfully private.
