89, of Coconut Creek, FL, formerly of Providence, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton, FL. He was the beloved husband of sixty-eight years to Sarah (Pellegrino) Silvestri. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Domenico and Teresa (Carnevale) Silvestri. Ray was a heavy equipment operator at Silvestri Brothers Sand and Gravel for thirty years before retiring in 1981. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 57. Ray was a US Army veteran serving during WW II.
Besides his wife he is survived by his loving children, Joann Hayes of Coconut Creek, FL, Theresa P. Crugnale of Cranston, Raymond P. Silvestri, Jr. of Cranston, Susan DiFolco and her husband Stephen of North Providence, and Domenic Silvestri of Providence; his eleven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great- grandchildren. He was the great-great- grandfather of the late Anthony O'Brien. Ray was the brother of Eleanor Paglio of Lincoln, and the late Albert, Anthony, Angelo, and Joseph Silvestri, Ida D'Ellena, and Rose Lopardo.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Friday at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence. Interment will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS Friday morning, 8:00-10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice by the Sea, Inc. 1531 W.
