Raymond A. Pitocchelli 93, of Preston Avenue, Cranston, died Friday, March 21, 2008 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of Irene L. (Marchionda) Pitocchelli. They were married fifty-nine years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Antonio and Luisa (Piccirilli) Pitocchelli. Mr. Pitocchelli was a letter carrier for the US Postal Service for thirty-two years before retiring in 1982. He was a US Army veteran serving during WW II in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre with the 43rd Infantry Division and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Mr. Pitocchelli was an avid New York Yankee fan. Besides his wife he is survived by his children; Raymond A. Pitocchelli and his wife Catherine of Mansfield, MA and Steven F. Pitocchelli and his wife Sandy of Cranston. He was the grandfather of Kara Sousa, Jill Godbout and Alison Pitocchelli and the great-grandfather of three. Mr. Pitocchelli was the brother of the late William, Eugene and Fred Pitocchelli, Eva Milucz and Connie D'Arezzo. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Cranston Street, Cranston. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston.
