76, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. Formerly of Cumberland, Ray was born in Providence and was the devoted son of the late Nicholas R. LaNinfa and Filomena "Phyliss" (Carpinone) LaNinfa. Ray received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Providence College and was a dedicated elementary school teacher in the Pawtucket School System for over 30 years. He also volunteered with Special Olympics. Following his retirement Ray was a substitute teacher in several RI school districts in addition to working at La Salette Shrine, Attleboro, MA. He was a former member of Four Corners Community Chapel, Cumberland. He was very creative, intelligent and quick-witted.
Ray is survived by his cousin George Carpinone of Maine and several other relatives in New England and Florida. He also leaves many close friends from Cumberland, the Pawtucket School System, and childhood friends from Providence.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, May 4th, from 9:00-10:15 a.m. in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by his Funeral Home Service at 10:15 a.m. Burial will be held in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
