a beloved member of the Cranston community, passed away on July 24, 2023, at the age of 93. Born in Sulmona, Italy, Ralph was a gentle and loving soul who touched the lives of many.
Ralph's remarkable journey began immigrating to New Britain, CT at the age of 9 with his parents and sisters. He initially worked at Pratt & Whitney as a mechanical engineer before venturing into a family start-up. His brilliant inventions, for which he holds several patents, played a pivotal role in the success of the company.
In addition to his professional achievements, Ralph proudly served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany during the Korean War. His dedication and commitment to his country were evident throughout his military service.
Ralph's interests were as diverse as his talents. He was an avid golfer, spending countless hours perfecting his swing on and off the course. Additionally, he found solace in gardening and the art of ballroom dancing with his soul mate, Ruth, showcasing his vibrant and outgoing personality.
Family meant the world to Ralph, and he cherished his loved ones deeply. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ruth, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Ralph's sisters, Mary Petteruti and Anita Greco, held a special place in his heart. He was a loving father to his daughter, Sandra Langlois, daughter Karen Bellows and her husband Gary, son, Frank Almonte and his wife, Jacqueline, and son, James Almonte and his wife, Christina. Ralph adored his six grandchildren, Christopher Bellows, Michelle Whitaker, Jeffrey Langlois, Courtney Miranda, Frank Almonte II, and Nicholas Almonte in addition to being blessed with seven great-grandchildren.
Ralph's parents, Frank and Isabella Almonte, preceded him in death, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love.
Ralph found solace and community at the Immaculate Conception Church of Cranston, RI, where he worshipped and served with the Men's Guild. His faith played an integral role in his life, providing him with strength and guidance.
Ralph Almonte will be remembered as a brilliant engineer, a tech-savvy innovator, and a selfless individual who was always there for his family and friends. His welcoming nature, generosity, and kind spirit touched lives of all who knew him. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory be a blessing to all.
His funeral will be held Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 10:30am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am in Immaculate Conception Church, 237 Garden Hills Drive, Cranston. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery. VISITING HOURS Friday 4-7pm.
In honor of Ralph's memory, in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society and/or the American Heart Association, organizations dedicated to fighting against these devastating diseases.
