RAHEL G. (FARAJ) KODOS, 81, of Providence, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2009 at Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Artin Kodos. Born in Harput, Turkey, she was the daughter of the late Giragos and Mariam (Kiraz) Faraj.
In the 1960's, she and her family, including her brothers Salim Faraj of North Providence and the late Basim Faraj, daughters Mary (Godosian) Atamian of Jamestown, Rose Kodos of Naples, FL and son Massoud Kodos of Providence left Beirut, Lebanon to start a new life in the United States. She was a determined woman with an unbreakable spirit, who overcame language barriers and was proud to attain citizenship in the country she loved in 1980. She was a skilled seamstress and worked at the Pawtucket Dress Company. Above all, her passion and commitment was always her family and in 1981 she retired, devoting her time to her 6 grandchildren. She was known to dress as Santa Claus every Christmas for the sake of putting smiles on their faces. Her influence and love is apparent in those she left behind, including 4 great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Vince, Axel and Julian. When she left this world, she left in peace surrounded by all those she loved and who truly loved her. Special thanks to the staff at the CCU of Roger Williams Medical Center, who provided comfort, care and support as we let our Guardian Angel go.
