Phillip W. Bathgate, Sr.

88, of West Palm Beach, formerly of South Kingstown, RI passed away on July 25, 2021.  He was the husband of Shirley (Anderson) Oden and the late Kathleen (Byrne) Bathgate.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late John and Grace (MacLeod) Bathgate.

He received an Associate Degree from Bryant College and was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War.

Mr. Bathgate served on the Providence Police Department for thirty years, retiring as Detective Captain.  He was the Chief of Security at Providence College for fifteen years.

He moved to West Palm Beach, FL after retiring and became an avid golfer at Bear Lakes Country Club.  He was a member of the National Police Chiefs Association.

Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Phillip W. Bathgate, Jr. of Providence, Susan Cote of Coventry, Glenn Bathgate and wife Vanessa of Narragansett, Daniel Bathgate of Cranston and James Bathgate and wife Ellen of Carson City, NV; a step-son, Bruce Oden of Warwick; eight grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.  He was the brother of the late John Bathgate and Eileen Fredrick.

His funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 10am in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston.  Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.  VISITING HOURS Monday from 4-7pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1 State Street, Unit 200, Providence, RI 02908.
