81 of Cranston, passed away on Thursday January 4, 2024, with his family by his side. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Philip and Mary (Cappelli) D’Ambra.  He was the devoted husband of Barbara (DiLanna) D’Ambra.

Phil or “Taxi” was a Deputy Sherriff for the Rhode Island Division of Sheriffs for thirty-two years. Prior to that, and where he got his nickname, he drove taxis for the Silvertop Taxi Company which was owned in part by his father and uncles. He enjoyed reminiscing about the places he traveled, and all the people met driving the taxi cab. Phil read the New York Post daily. He was an avid football fan and followed horse racing. However, the time that he spent with his family was what he cherished the most. He was a gentle and kind man that always touched people's hearts.

Besides his wife he is survived by his two sons, James S. D’Ambra and his wife Jennifer and Philip L. D’Ambra, Jr. and his fiancé Jennifer Carlos. He also leaves his grandchildren Nicholas, Brianna, Jamie and Ryan. He also leaves his brother James S. D’Ambra and his wife Laureen. He also leaves several nieces and nephews including Christine D'Ambra Monahan who was like a daughter to him.

His funeral service will leave at 10:30am on Thursday January 11, 2024, from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston. Follow by his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am at St. Mary’s Church, 1525 Cranston St., Cranston. Burial will be private. VISTING HOURS will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 -7:00pm.
