74, of Lakewood Ranch, Florida passed away on October 27, 2022, after a heroic fight against AML Leukemia at Moffitt Cancer Center. He will be remembered as a humble man of great intelligence, integrity, and with a deep love and loyalty to his family and will be dearly missed by many.
Peter was born in Macau, China and grew up in Hong Kong, China. He attended high school in Essex, England before coming to the USA where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Adelphi University in 1971. He completed a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Rhode Island in 1975, where he also met his wife. Later he acquired an MBA from Rutgers University in 1985.
Peter had a distinguished career at Colgate Palmolive technology centers and retired as Director of Oral Products after 36 successful years. He was a great scientist and intimately involved in developing new product technologies for the prevention of dental disease and worked at facilities in the USA, China, Europe, India, and Mexico. He was involved in various acquisitions as well as leading many key initiatives, including management of the Total brand toothpaste on a worldwide basis along with all related FDA activities. In addition to various recognition awards, Peter was the recipient of several US and global patents. After retiring he moved with his wife of 44 years, Attilia (Tillie) Ren to Florida.
Peter was the son of the late Huo Ren and Zing-Ngou Zee Ren. Along with his wife, he is survived by his children, Michael F. Ren and Kristen N. Ren; his brother Charles Ren (Vivica Chan); his sister Evans Ren; the late Elite Ren of Hong Kong. He is also survived by sister-in-law Linda Catalano (Joseph R. Catalano) and numerous nieces and nephews: Eric Dew, Ben Wong, Carole Ou, Christy Ren, Brian Dew, and Joseph F. Catalano.
His funeral service will be held in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Tuesday, November 29th at 12:00 pm. Inurnment will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS will precede his service from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation, supporting malignant hematology and bone marrow transplant research.
