35, of Johnston, passed away on Friday, August 17, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. As he learned from his devoted parents Peter D. and Rosanna (Tanzi) Fontana of Cranston, it was not enough for Peter to stand by and observe life. Instead, he was fully engaged in it, using his creativity and passion to build a business, a home and a family. That passion was always present in the relationship he enjoyed with his beloved wife and soulmate, Laura Matteson-Fontana. One of the greatest accomplishments of Peter's life was being a loving father to his daughter Angelina Fontana, his pride and joy. Peter always treasured the time he spent with his Lina. Peter was the dear brother of Christine DeFruscio and Tricia Flori. They have always admired his strength, courage and zest for life. He was the son in law of Cindy and Thomas Collum and brother in law of Peter Flori and Brian and Erin Matteson. Uncle Peter will be fondly remembered by his dear nieces and nephews: Ryan, Marissa, Brendan, Michael, Ava, Evianna and Brandon. He was also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends. Peter was the owner and operator of Pro Building Inc. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory 1278 Park Ave. Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Immaculate Conception Church, Oaklawn Ave., Cranston at 10 a.m. Interment will be at St. Ann Cemetery in Cranston. Visiting Hours are Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Kindly omit flowers. Gifts or donations in his memory to the Fontana Recovery Fund, 25 Lincoln Drive Johnston, RI 02919 will be appreciated.
