PAUL SHAMIRIAN

PAUL SHAMIRIAN, 91, of Home Ave., Providence, passed away peacefully Friday, June 6, 2008 at home surrounded by his devoted family. He was the beloved husband for 53 years of Elizabeth "Libby" (Jeranian) Shamirian.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Sarkis and Zartar (Yeghsegian) Shamirian.
Mr. Shamirian was the owner of Paul's Mayflower Market in Providence for 48 years. He graduated from Hope High School in 1936 and attended the University of RI. He was a WW-II U.S. Army veteran and was a Staff Sgt. in the Military Police Battalion. Mr. Shamirian was a member of Sts. Sahag & Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church and was a past member of the Parish Council. He was a past member of the Knights of Vartan; American Legion; and N.E. Grocers' Association. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed cooking and his work, and was a lifelong Red Sox fan.
Besides his wife, he was the devoted father of Dr. Paul S. Shamirian and his wife Aeda of Cranston, Dr. Robert A. Shamirian and his wife Dianne of North Kingstown, and Lisa M. Shamirian, Esq. of Providence; loving grandfather of Paul R. and Robert J. Shamirian; and dear brother of the late Albert, Arthur, Margaret and Star Shamirian and Grace Yaghoobian.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in Sts. Sahag & Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church, Providence, and may call at the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Monday 5-8 p.m.
Burial will be at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Sts. Sahag & Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church, 70 Jefferson St., Providence, RI 02908.
