PAUL F. MATTERA

81, of Providence, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the beloved husband of over fifty years to Norma M. (Strong) Mattera. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Paul and Anna Marie (Calise) Mattera. Mr. Mattera was a cook for various restaurants in the Providence area for over thirty years before his retirement. He was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean War. Besides spending time with his family, Paul enjoyed being at the garage with his longtime friend Manny.

Besides his wife he is survived by his loving children Paul D. Mattera and his wife Paula, and Michael A. Mattera and his wife Diane, all of Cranston. He was the cherished grandfather of Robert A. Mattera of Pawtucket and Jennifer A. Mattera of Cranston. Paul was the brother of Philomena Bertrand of Cranston, John Mattera of Providence, Vincent Mattera of Narragansett, William Mattera of Providence, and the late Mario and Vito Mattera.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Monday at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 1525 Cranston Street, Cranston. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston.
