Paul J. Hochwarter

70, of Narragansett died Friday evening, March 4, after losing his battle with pancreatic cancer. He passed away surrounded by his loving family, to whom he devoted his life. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Edward and Madelyn (Oxley) Hochwarter.  He leaves behind his beloved wife Linda M (Barclay) Hochwarter; his two children, Lisa E Hochwarter (fiancé Justin Tyson) of Pawtucket and Paul D Hochwarter (fiancée Kimberly Gray) of Portsmouth; a brother John Hochwarter of Ashland, MA; and his wonderful nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Edward Hochwarter Jr.

Paul proudly served as a RI law enforcement officer for over 40 years. He received his law enforcement degree from Bryant College and began his career as a Pawtucket Police Officer, rising to the rank of Captain. After retiring from the Pawtucket police force, he went on to work for both the RI State Fugitive and the State Police Violent Fugitive task forces. He finished his career as an investigator with the Attorney General’s office.

Paul had a zest for life, lived it to the fullest and enjoyed all it had to offer. He was a member of multiple organizations, such as the Elks, the Moose, and the AGTNE.  He loved the ocean, boating, cars and traveling.  He especially loved to play golf with his brother and his friends. Paul’s friends were like family to him. He valued his friendships, was grateful for them, and always knew how fortunate he was to have such great people in his life.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his VISITNG HOURS Friday, March 11, from 4-7 PM at the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY-SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 111 Boston Neck Road (Rt. 1A), Narragansett. His burial will be private in Mt. St Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the RI Affiliate of the Pancreatic Cancer Actions Network www.pancan.org.
