Paul Vincent Filippone, Sr.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Vincent Filippone, Sr., 87, of Cranston, on Monday, August 1, 2022 at RI Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Angela (Rossi) Filippone for 66 beautiful years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Paul Filippone and Teresa (Capobianco) Pansera, and the step-son of the late John Pansera.

Paul was the President/CEO of RI Credit Union from 1980 – 2005, and also a current Board member. He was a former Director of Empire Corporate Federal Credit Union, RI Credit Union League, and RI Credit Union. A former Director of Corporate Federal Credit Union and a Supervisory Committee member; former President of Providence Clearing House; Member of the Rhode Island Banking Operation Committee, NASCUS, and Credit Union Executives Society. He was also awarded a seat at the Chairman’s Roundtable. Paul was a Eucharistic Minister and Treasurer of the former St. Brigid’s Church as well as an active donor to his two alma maters, LaSalle Academy and Bryant College.

All who knew Paul recognized his dedication to his work, and were grateful for his leadership, generosity and sharp mind. But as much as he loved his work, Paul loved being with his family even more. He was a devoted father, a loving husband, a caring “Papa”, and a friend to so many. Everyone was drawn to his infectious smile, kind spirit, and sense of humor. He was truly a gentleman in every sense of the word, who loved his family and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life to their fullest.
