72, of Cranston, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at The Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the beloved husband of forty-eight years to Joan F. (Dwyer) Bernard. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Adelard W. and Anne (Canney) Bernard. Paul was an educator in the West Warwick School Department for thirty-one years before retiring in 1992. He was a graduate of Providence College, Class of 1961, and received his Masters Degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Paul served in the US Army Reserves.
Besides his wife he is survived by his loving children, Anne E. Gallucci and her husband Dr. Edward of Johnston, Philip F. Bernard and his wife Amy of Warwick, Christine J. Tirocchi and her husband Scott of Foster, Paul M. Bernard and his girlfriend Bonnie Simpson of Cranston. He was the cherished grandfather of Angela, Edward, Amanda, Taylor, Sean, Jyshawn, Emily, Stephen, and Autumn, and the great-grandfather of Alex. Paul was the brother of Anne Horner of Cranston, Martha Walsh of Cranston, William Bernard of California, and Mary Bernard of Central Falls.
His funeral service will be held on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston. Interment will be private. VISITING HOURS Tuesday 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
