86, of Johnston, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, September 10, 2022. She was the loving wife of the late Charles Mariano for 53 years. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Evelyn (Lancor) Klimasewski and Leo Donahue. She was the devoted mother of Kathleen Mariano Fleenor and her husband Warren H. Fleenor of Johnston, and Cheryl Ann Goneconte of Smithfield and her late husband Carmine J. Goneconte; beloved Nana to Carmine C. Goneconte and his wife Michelle of Cumberland, and Jessica L. Almeida and her husband Antonio Almeida of Smithfield; cherished great grandmother, “Nana Pat” of Lorenzo, Xavier, Arianna Almeida and Brielle Goneconte; sister of, the late Lawrence Donahue, his wife Nancy Donahue of East Greenwich, Ken Klimasewski and his wife Cathy Klimasewski of Gloucester, Ron David of Cranston, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Pat loved learning and after her girls were older, she returned to school earning her BS from Providence College in 1979 and then her MBA. She became an instructor of Accounting at the CCRI Warwick and then an Associate Professor of Business at Johnson and Wales University until her retirement in 2001. In her retirement, Pat became a volunteer at St. Phillip School, Greenville and St. Rocco School, Johnston. She loved music and became a member of the Lincoln-Cumberland Community Chorus and the Chorus of Kent County. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel extensively with her husband and daughters, including five trips to her beloved Ireland. Pat loved a party, was always the last one to leave and her home with Charlie was the center for holiday and family gatherings. She loved to tell stories of her life, but of all her accomplishments Pat was happiest being with her treasured family and dear friends.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:45 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Rocco’s Church, Johnston. Burial will take place in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. VISITING HOURS will be Wednesday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.
