Patricia McLaughlin Hessler

It is with profound grief and sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia McLaughlin Hessler, a devoted mother and grandmother on August 12, 2023.

This gentle, loving and passionate woman has left a permanent mark etched in our hearts.  She will be missed by her three children, Elisabeth (Scott), Paul (Cynthia) and Craig (Lauren), as well as her four grandbabies – Gabriella, Tucker, Christian and Cecily; her brother Craig (Froma) and nephew Oliver.  Patricia leaves behind a group of devoted, loving and supportive friends who have been with her throughout her life and on her most recent journey.

Patricia dedicated her life to the care of others.  From chairing the Ladies Guild at Fogerty Memorial Hospital, to sitting as a member of the Board of Trustees at Landmark Medical Center, Sojourner House and Rhode Island Country Club.  Patricia was a champion of many causes.

An immigrant to this country from Scotland, Patricia’s family settled in New York.  She excelled in school eventually graduating from the University of Rhode Island with highest honors, the Kennedy School at Harvard University and Roger Williams Law School.

An esteemed member of the Rhode Island Bar, Patricia worked tirelessly representing the Department of Children, Youth and Families.  She was incredibly proud of her work with the department, representing the defenseless, the vulnerable and the children of Rhode Island.

Patricia will forever be remembered for her beauty, both inside and out, caring heart and unconditional love.
