Patricia (McCurdy) Devolve 78, of Plainfield Street, Johnston, died Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence. She was the wife of the late Sander J. Devolve, Jr. Born in Johnston; she was a daughter of the late Irving and Helen (Garrett) McCurdy. Mrs. Devolve was employed by the Johnston School Department as a school bus aide to handicapped children until her retirement. Patricia was a longtime communicant of St. Brigid's Church, serving as a past president of the Mothers Guild, member of the Fiftieth Anniversary Commemoration Committee and altar server coordinator under the late Fathers O'Neil and Kelleher. She was a former president of Thorton School PTA. Mrs. Devolve was a talented baker and cake decorator, designing unique wedding, confirmation, birthday and other celebratory confections for family and friends. She enjoyed travel, playing cards and entertaining. She is survived by her children Sander Devolve III of Hawaii, Michael Devolve of Glocester and Kimberly Devolve of MA. Mrs. Devolve was the grandmother of three beloved grandchildren, Mike Jr., Ryan, and Ashley. She was the sister of the late James McCurdy, George McCurdy and Marie Healey. Patricia was the aunt of numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Brigid's Church, 1231 Plainfield Street, Johnston.
