73, of Cranston, passed away after a courageous one year battle with cancer on Sunday June 19, 2011. He was the loving husband of Sandy (Abbatematteo) Marsella. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Pasquale and Mary (Santamaria) Marsella. Pat graduated from Hope High School and Providence College and earned a J.D. Degree from the New England School of Law. After 36 years of State Service, Pat retired as the Associate Personnel Administrator for the State of Rhode Island. Pat was also a current Board member, and former Chairman, of the Rhode Island Credit Union.
Besides his wife he was the devoted father of Lori Marsella-Levine and her husband Adam, Karen Andrews and her husband Buster, and David Marsella and his wife Michele. He was the proud grandfather to his cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth, Lauren, Andrew and Molly. He was the loving brother of Elena DeGiovanni and the late Anthony Marzella. He was the brother in law of Tony Abbott. He also leaves several nieces and nephews whom he adored.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in The Church of St. Mark, Garden City Cranston. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
