Orestina (Simeone) Galasso

94, of Johnston, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, January 25, 2024. Orestina was born on February 16, 1929, in Sant’Ambrogio, Italy, to Silvestro and Ida (DiCiccio) Simeone. She was later raised by her mother and uncle, Carmelo Simeone.

In 1957, Orestina immigrated to America, and that same year she married her soulmate, Federico Galasso. Together, they built a life filled with love. Orestina expressed her love through food, whether it was her homemade gnocchi or Sunday sugo and meatballs, she would always make sure those she cared for were happy and well-fed. She lived a long and beautiful life and is now reunited with the love of her life, Federico, who passed away in May 2023.

She leaves behind her daughter Catherine Maiorano and son-in-law Cosmo, her grandson Federico and his husband Alexander, and grandson Emilio, along with Abby and their children Rylie and Emilia, who will miss their “nonna-bis” dearly. She also leaves behind her sister Emmaculata, as well as her predeceased siblings Antonetta, Gioia, Giovanni, and Maria.

Her visitation will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 30th, from 9:00-10:00 a.m. in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, at 11:00 am. in Holy Ghost Church, Providence. Burial will be held in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
