91, of Cranston, RI, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Riverview Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Coventry. Nancy was the beloved wife of the late Gaetano Gallo. Born in Forio d’Ischia, Naples, Italy. She was the daughter of the late Vito and Libera (Del Ponte) Capuano. Nancy worked for many years as a kick press operator in the jewelry industry in Providence. She was a devout member of the Catholic faith and an active parishioner and choir member for many years at the former St. Ann’s Church in Cranston. Nancy was also a long-time member and volunteer at the Cranston Senior Center where she participated in many social and volunteer activities, especially Smile Dolls that she stuffed and sewed by hand for various organizations, including Hasbro Children’s Hospital. A wonderful homemaker and excellent cook, Nancy loved to prepare authentic Italian food, especially her homemade Sunday sauce and her traditional egg biscuits. Nancy took great pride and joy in caring for and spending time with her family, hosting annual Italian Christmas Eve dinners and always making every holiday and birthday a beautiful and happy family event.
Nancy is survived by her loving children: Francesco P. “Frank” Gallo and his wife Gail of Cranston, Caterina “Rina” Rabaiotti and her husband Richard of Kingman, AZ, Libera “Libby” Sands and her husband Daniel of Newton, MA, Mary Ann Gallo and her husband Thomas Zammarelli, Jr., of Scituate, RI, and daughter-in-law Kathleen (Johnson) Gallo of Cranston. She was preceded in death by her son, Vito G. Gallo.
Nancy was the cherished nonna of Kristine (Gallo) Mota; Evan Rabaiotti and his wife Jenna, and Michela Rabaiotti; Christopher, Bridget, and Michael Gallo; Amanda and Francesca Sands; and Miranda and Valerie Zammarelli. She was the adored great-grandmother of Connor and his wife Manasa, Abby, Michael, Diana, Vincent, Hannah, and Olivia. Nancy was the sister of Maria Laurenza of Cranston, the late Caterina Calise and Francesco Capuano both of Forio, d’Ischia. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, June 27 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, June 28 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Johnston. Burial is respectfully private.
