MICHAEL PALUMBO

96, formerly of Cranston, died Thursday October 7, 2010 at Cherry Hill Manor, Johnston. He was the husband of the late Julia (Vacca) Palumbo. Born in Johnston, he was a son of the late Michael and Bettina (Rinaldi) Palumbo, Sr.

He was a core maker for the Fairmont Foundry of Woonsocket for 30 years until retiring. In his youth he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was a member of the Cranston and Thornton Senior Centers and the Kelly Gazzero VFW Post. Michael was an avid gardener and bowler and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Michael was the father of the late Dennis and Elizabeth Palumbo. He is survived by his grandchildren Nina Reiner and her husband Howie of Cranston and Michael Palumbo and his wife Kristin of West Warwick. He was the great-grandfather of Luke and Ellery Reiner. Michael was the brother of Mary Petrarca and Carmella Salo, both of Johnston and the late Vincent, John, Carlo, Arthur, Joseph, Camille and Pasco Palumbo, Carrie Fuoco, Nancy Scungio and Lillian Enos.
