MICHAEL LOFFREDO

MICHAEL LOFFREDO

of Providence, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at Steere House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Providence.

He was the beloved husband of the late Joan (Maccarone) Loffredo. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Antonio and Clementina (DelMonico) Loffredo.

He is survived by his loving children, Michael W. Loffredo of Providence and Joann C. Albanese of West Warwick and was the father-in-law of the late Paul Albanese. He was the brother of Mary Fratantuono of Warwick, Helen Marra of Cranston and the late Anna Connetti, Filomena Ventriglia, Carolina, Domenic, Carmella and Antonio Loffredo, Jr. He is also survived by his grandchild Gregory Albanese and his wife Ellen of Cranston and great-grandchildren, Michael, Jacob and Jenna and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Michael served in the U.S. Army in WW-II as a medical supply sergeant. For many years, he was part owner of Colonial Food Store and State Supermarket on Federal Hill. He was affectionately called "Mike the Greek" and was known to give his patron's children Hershey candy bars. Retired, he and his wife of 68 years enjoyed traveling, and was a kind and generous man.

His funeral will be held on Friday at 9:45 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Sacrament Church, Academy Ave., Providence at 11:00 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will be at St. Ann Cemetery in Cranston. VISITING HOURS THURSDAY 4-8 p.m.
