70, of Johnston RI passed away February 24th, 2018 at Beth Israel Hospital surrounded by his loving family and saintly nurses. Big Mike battled to his last days, as he did throughout his life. Never giving up!
He was born on January 19th, 1948 to Michael P. and Eleanor (Vivier) D’Ambra, Sr. and lived much of his life in North Providence. He was predeceased by his brother Edward and sister Evelyn D’Ambra. He was a proud graduate of Mount St. Charles Academy and St. Lawrence Elementary School. He will be remembered as a generous, kind spirit who always loved to tease.
Mike owned Mike D’s Cleaning Service for his entire life. He spent countless nights cleaning Almacs and Benny’s stores and summers on the job at Bryant College.
He was an avid Red Sox and Celtic Fan who loved to play cards. He was present at some historic sporting events including Super Bowls XIII and XXII, the 2007 Fiesta Bowl between Boise State and Oklahoma, and the 6 OT game at Madison Square Garden between Syracuse and UCONN.
He is survived by his loving children Matthew (Christina), Trisha Lynch (David), and Jaina D’Ambra, as well as his former wife Linda D’Ambra.
The loves of his life were his 9 grandchildren: Madison, David, Devin, Caitlyn, Dylan, Michael, Daniel, Chase and Declan. Poppi might not be physically in the stands anymore, but he’ll be there in spirit.
He also leaves behind the doctors and nurses at Beth Israel who cared for him. Their selfless comfort and sacrifices helped to complete Mike’s life. They are heroes and will never be forgotten.
