beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 24, 1943, in Providence, Rhode Island, and lived a life dedicated to service, education, and family.
Michael's career began as a math teacher for the Central Falls and Warwick school departments, where he inspired countless students. He then transitioned to a successful 30-year career as an IT professional, showcasing his expertise and passion for technology. Later in life, Michael returned to his roots in education, ending his career teaching at the New England Institute of Technology, where he continued to touch the lives of his students.
A devout Catholic, Michael was a longstanding communicant of St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Church in Narragansett. He actively participated in the church’s bible study group, demonstrating his commitment to faith and community. Michael's personality shone brightly through his dedication to volunteering, particularly sharing his IT skills with seniors and veterans, a testament to his kindness and generosity.
Michael earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Rhode Island and held a master's degree from Nova Southeastern University. His academic achievements contributed to his distinguished career in education and technology.
Family was central to Michael's life, and he often expressed that they were his proudest accomplishment. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Diane (DiPrete) Croce; his daughters, Maria Flynn and Dina Egge; his son Michael A. Croce and wife Tina of Seattle, WA; and his sister, Melissa DesJardins of Attleboro, MA. Michael was a cherished grandfather to Madalyn, Vincent, Alex, Ryan, Gracie, Tess, Samantha, and Billy, and a proud great-grandfather to twins Malcolm and Mariah.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Michael A. Croce, Sr.; his mother, Margaret L. (Ricci) Croce; his son, David Croce; and his sister, Mary Jo Lappin.
His funeral will be held Monday, October 21, 2024 at 8:45am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory - SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Road, (Rt. 1A), Narragansett followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 864 Point Judith Road, Narragansett. VISITING HOURS Sunday from 3-6pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children’s New England, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
Michael A. Croce's legacy lives on in the hearts of those he touched throughout his life. His devotion to family and community will forever be remembered and cherished.
