Mary G. (Blair) Sormanti

88, of Johnston, formerly of Enfield Avenue in Providence, and Gainesville, FL, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 24, 2021 at Greenville Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Dante Sormanti. Born in Burrillville, she was a daughter of the late Bernal and Margaret (Annis) Blair.

Mary worked in Providence’s manufacturing industry, mostly with jewelry, for over 40 years before retiring from Prince Findings in 1994.  She was well respected by all of whom she worked with not only for her great attitude, efficiency, and unmatched work ethic, but also for her ability to master any piece of equipment she operated.  Mary enjoyed traveling with her family in their RV.  She made sure that their trailer wasalways well stocked and travel-ready and she would think nothing of telling everyone on a Friday to pack a few things because ‘we’re going camping for the weekend’.  Mary spoiled and gave unconditional love to her many pets, especially her dogs.  Mary enjoyed music, attended many concerts of her favorite performers including Willie Nelson and Neil Diamond,and was happiest when she was dancing, dancefloor optional.  Mary moved to sunny Gainesville, Florida in 2001 where she enjoyed many happy years of close neighborly friendships, family visits, dancing, and taking care of her cherished pets.  She could often be found gardening or cutting her one-acrelawn while listening to music and sipping a bottomless glass of red sangria wine.  As a wife, mother, and grandmother her strength, love and compassion were unending.  She never failedto maintain focus and provide that tough love necessary to build the strong character and independence that she insisted on forher family.  She always put those that she loved ahead of herself.  All who have experienced Mary’s caring ways remain forever grateful.  Right up until her last days, Mary’s energy and her ability to enjoy the moment and make others smile was contagious.

Mary is survived by her loving children, Margaret S. Osborne and her husband Kenneth of Burrillville, Michael A. Sormanti and his wife Elisa of Cranston; stepchildren, Diane Sormanti-Longtin and her husband Richard of Johnston and the late David and Stephen Sormanti; cherished grandchildren, Katrina Kellerman, Michael J. Sormanti, David Sormanti, Nicholas St. Clair and the late Torria King and Joseph Sormanti; great-grandmother of the late Justice Danforth.  Mary was the sister of the late Marguerite Beaudreault, Edith Gay, Bernal Blair, Russell Blair and Dorothy Smith.

Mary’s family is very grateful for all of the caregivers at the Greenville Center, who provided exceptional care and comfort to her during her four month stay there.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Friday at 9:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Holy Apostles Church, Cranston. VISITING HOURS will be held on Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. Masks are required. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attn: Processing Center, PO Box 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394.
