MARY (ZAKARIAN) SERABIAN

MARY (ZAKARIAN) SERABIAN

89, of North Providence, passed away Monday, July 25, 2011 at Miriam Hospital in Providence surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Nishan Serabian. They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on November 24th. She was the loving mother of their four children, Dr. Beverly Serabian, Linda

Serabian, Deborah Serabian-Kaufer and Malcolm Serabian; and the proud grandmother of Shalem Kaufer, Zara Serabian-Arthur, Kyle Serabian Kaufer, Sacha Serabian Kaufer and Logan Gouveia Serabian. She was the beloved mother-in-law of Darryl Arthur, David Kaufer and Nancy Gouveia Serabian. Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Boghos and Badaskan (Thomasian) Zakarian, and the sister of the late Helen Zakarian, and Hagop Jake Zakarian and her surviving brother Charles Zakarian.

She attended the University of New Hampshire for four years, majoring in religion. Mrs. Serabian was employed as a crossing guard for the Town of North Providence for 33 years at the corner of Douglas Ave. and Mineral Spring Ave. She worked tirelessly for her church Sts. Sahag & Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church as a Sunday school teacher and later Superintendent for more than 40 years, and an active member of the Women's Guild and many other committees.

She lived her life joyously and lovingly, engaging with others and being content with life's simple joys.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Friday at 9:45 a.m., followed by a funeral service in Sts. Sahag & Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church, Providence at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at North Burial Ground, Providence.

VISITING HOURS THURSDAY 4-8 p.m.
