MARY CIVITA (PICANO) RUGGIERI

106, of Cranston, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Cedar Crest Nursing Centre in Cranston. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Ruggieri. Mary was born in Itri, Italy, a daughter of the late Felica and Andreanna (Lorello) Picano. Mrs. Ruggieri was a co-owner and head cashier at Ruggieri's Market. She was a member and Past President of the Emblem Club, Providence Lodge of Elks# 1 , V.F.W. Post #2396 in Cranston and was also a member and Past President of the St. Mary's Feast Society Ladies Auxiliary and a member of St. Mary's Culture Society , AARP, Cranston Senior Center, Knightsville Senior Center, Elderly Affairs, the Johnston Senior Bowling League and she also volunteered at the Cedar Crest Nursing Home. She is survived by her loving sons, Joseph Ruggieri and his late wife Louise of Cranston, Edward Ruggieri and his wife Anne of Cranston and Robert Ruggieri of Thailand. She was also the grandmother of 5, great grandmother of 10, great- great grandmother of 1 and was sister of the late Carrie Recco, Salvatore Picano, John Picano and Frank Picano. Mary is also survived by her two very special friends, Dennis Ewanick and Richard Camp. Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 10 am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory 1278 Park Ave., Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Mary's Church, Cranston St., Cranston. Burial will take place in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS: Wednesday 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: St. Mary's Feast Society, 15 Phenix Ave., Cranston, RI 02920.
