MARY A. (RUGGIERI) PESCARINO

MARY A. (RUGGIERI) PESCARINO, 77, of North Providence, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2008 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife for 52 years of Emilio Pescarino, Jr., and devoted mother of Linda Rinaldi-vanRijsbergen and her husband Jerry of Smithfield, Robert Pescarino and his wife Sandy of Saunderstown, and Cheryl A. Pescarino of Johnston, and loving grandmother of Samantha and Alexander Pescarino.
Born in Cranston she was the daughter of the late Augusto and Ida (Soscia) Ruggieri. She also leaves her brothers, Salvatore Ruggieri and his wife Dorothy, James Ruggieri and his wife Sally, and her sister, Anna Ruggieri. She was the sister-in-law of Anthony and Sue Pescarino, Richard and Claudia Pescarino, Mary and Ed Caldarone, Gilda Palumbo and Charles Pescarino. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary was employed for 10 years as an office manager at City Hall Hardware in Providence prior to starting her family, and for 24 years as a seamstress for Michael's Manufacturing in North Providence before retiring in 1993. She had a strong faith and was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church in North Providence. She was an outstanding cook and baker, and made all her meals memorable. Mary enjoyed movies, shopping with her daughters, reading books, music, theatre, gardening and the company of her relatives and friends. Mary's passion in life was her family. She cherished any time or event in their company. She leaves a legacy of unsurpassed love, compassion, unselfishness, generosity, humility, and sincere warmth which will always be remembered. She was truly a wonderful, kind person. She had immense pride for her children and grandchildren and while treating everyone equally, she always made each individual feel incredibly special to her. We will always remember how her face lit up upon the sight of her grandchildren as well as the numerous memories and unconditional love she exhibited to them. Time spent with her will always be cherished, she will be incredibly missed, and always remembered.
Her funeral will be held Saturday at 9:45 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthony's Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS Friday 4-8 p.m.
