Mary Margaret "Mema" Curran, aged 84, of Cranston, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on Saturday November 16, 2024. Born on May 3, 1940, in Kealkill, Bantry, County Cork, Ireland to Daniel J Dinneen and Bridgette T. (O'Connor) Dinneen.
Mary immigrated to the United States in 1959 and lived in Rumford and Pawtucket, RI where she worked as a caregiver, before marrying Sean in 1962 and living in Providence, where she raised 7 children. After the death of her husband, Mary rejoined the workforce at Citizens Bank, where she worked diligently from April 1989 until her retirement in 2013. Outside of her professional life, Mary was deeply committed to her faith, actively participating in the community of the Immaculate Conception Church. Her hobbies included gardening and traveling with her daughters, activities that brought her immense joy and fulfillment throughout her life.
Mary's survived by a loving family, her brother Daniel and his wife Margaret, and sister Nancy. Mary's children Patrick, Sean, Teresa, Bernadette, Daniel and his wife Kathie, Timothy and his wife Beth, and Elizabeth Kirejczyk and her husband William. Mema was a cherished grandmother to Elaina, Lindsey, Patrick, Shane, Sean, Matthew, Catherine, Amanda, the late Daniel, Corey, Keeley, Nicholas, Regan, and Maura, and adored by her 15 great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband Sean, brother Jerry, and sister Norma. She is also survived by extended family members Danielle Curran and Lorrie Curran, numerous nieces and nephews, her beloved dog Gus and countless others who knew and loved her as "Mema".
Her funeral will leave at 9:00 am on Friday November 22, 2024, from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston. Followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Saints Rose & Clement, 111 Long St., Warwick, RI 02886. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Mary’s Cemetery, Pawtucket. VISITING HOURS will be held on Thursday from 4:00 -7:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the HopeHealth Hospice, 1085 N. Main St. Providence, RI 02904.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, kindness and a touch of sarcasm, which will forever resonate with those who knew her.
