Mary L. (Zubiaga) Macera

93, of Cranston, RI passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 1,2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Joseph E. Macera Sr. She was born in Providence a daughter of the late Domingo and Filomena Zubiaga.

Mrs. Macera was an honors graduate of Central High School in 1946. She retired from Hospital Trust Bank as Assistant Vice President and manager in 1990. Mrs. Macera went on to work at Rhode Island Hospital Emergency room for 24 years as a family assistant liaison. Fluent in Spanish, Mary assisted physicians and nurses with her invaluable translation skills.

Mrs. Macera volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister for Rhode Island Hospital, Women and Infants Hospital and her home parish Immaculate Conception Church in Cranston.

Beside her late husband, she is survived by her children; Joseph E. Macera Jr. and his wife Gail of Cranston, Mary Lou Neville and her husband Michael, Marilyn Boichat and Monica Anderson and her husband Paul all of Warwick. She was the grandmother to Gina, Leah, Caylen, Jeffrey, Nicholas, Jennifer, Drew, and Sarah and great grandmother to Anden, Abigail, Paul, Nolan, Joshua, Nicholas, Harrison, Natalie, Isabelle, and Bennett. She was the sister of the late John Zubiago, Joseph Zubiaga, Claudia Marchetti, Emilia Zubiaga, Victoria Bennett, Filomena Silvestri, Sotera Zubiaga, Domenic Zubiago and Juanita DeJesus.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, June 7, 2021, in Immaculate Conception Church, Cranston at 10AM. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.  Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meeting Street School, 1000 Eddy St. #4739, Providence, RI 02905.
