Mary C. (Imondi) Kusmierz, 94 of East Greenwich, passed away peacefully Wednesday March 30, 2022, with her family by her side. Born in North Providence she was the daughter of the late Angelo and the late Vincenzina (Mancini) Imondi. She was the beloved wife of the late Stephen B. Kusmierz, Jr.
She was the devoted mother of Stephen Kusmierz and his wife Vandy, Gene Kusmierz and his wife Barbara Garabedian, Joan Elouadih and her husband Abdeslam, Gloria Masse and her husband Don, and the late Br. John J. Kusmierz, O.P. She was the loving grandmother of Karen Bristow, Tracy Kusmierz, Kristin Bondroff, Heather Kusmierz, Jeffrey Kusmierz, John Garabedian, Andrew Elouadih, Julianne Elouadih, Andrea McGuinness, and Christopher Masse and six great grandsons Ian McQuaig, Pierce McQuaig, Finn Bondroff, Brennan Bondroff, Decklen Kusmierz, and Kayden McGuinness. Mary was the sister of John Imondi and his late wife Nancy, Evelyn Grindley and her late husband Walter, Angelo Imondi and his wife Lois, William Imondi and his wife Muriel, and a sisters-in-law Grete Imondi, and Janice Imondi. She was predeceased by her siblings Ann Blackwood, Carmine Henry Imondi and his wife Rita, Joseph Imondi and his wife Angie, Albert Imondi and his wife Maria, Paul Imondi and Richard Imondi. She was also the aunt of numerous nieces and nephews.
The overarching key to Mary’s personality was her absolute devotion to her family. She was compassionate toward all, generous to a fault, and when it came to her family-totally selfless. There was quite literally nothing she wouldn’t sacrifice for them. Despite the tragedy of suddenly losing her husband when he was 51 and she 50, and the devastating loss of her youngest son John, even with the chronic pain she experienced in her later years she maintained her sense of humor and was remarkably lucid right up until death. Nothing made her happier than seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren, or viewing pictures and videos of them; this always brought a smile to her face. She was also blessed with a number of nieces whom were like Angels to her-and whom she loved dearly. Though sadly nearly all of Mary’s friends predeceased her, she and her dear friend Madeline remained close right up to the very end.
