MARY E. (HERON) MC ATEER

96, of Minnesota Ave., Warwick, passed away on Friday, July 27, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Home in East Greenwich. She was the beloved wife of the late Vincent M. McAteer, (P.P.D.). Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Francis L. and Nora A. (Lowney) Heron.

Mrs. McAteer was an assistant buyer for the former Gladding's Department Store in downtown Providence for 20 years and later was secretary for the Commissioner of Public Safety, City of Providence for 10 years. After retiring, she was a receptionist for 5 years for Dr. Linda Thornton. Mary was a devoted supporter of St. Michael's Church her entire life.

Mrs. McAteer was the devoted mother of Mary A. Podedworny and her husband Lee of South Kingstown, Vincent M. McAteer, Jr., (C.P.D. Ret.) and his wife Linda of Cranston and the late Theresa C. Salo; loving grandmother of ten; loving great-grandmother of ten; and dear sister of James M. Lynch of Cranston and the late John J. Lynch and Edmund B. Lynch.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. Michael's Church, 239 Oxford St., Providence, followed by interment at St. Francis Cemetery in Pawtucket. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
