Martin J. Stamp, 92, of Cranston, died Friday, September 7, 2007 at Kent Regency in Warwick. He was the beloved husband for 65 years of Edith (Ringe) Stamp.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Martin and Anna (Fronius) Stamp, he lived in Cranston for the past 57 years, and lived at Bonnet Shores for 49 summers.
He was the founder and co-owner Ru-Mart Metal Specialties in Providence for 45 years. Mr. Stamp was a charter member of the Olneyville Boys Club and an amateur heavyweight boxing champ of the Providence YMCA. He was also a charter member of Quidnessett Country Club, where he belonged for 36 years. He belonged to many jewelry associations and to the German American Cultural Society.
Besides his wife, he was the devoted father of Marcia Doyle and her husband Edward of Westwood, MA and Brian Stamp and his wife Brenda of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; loving grandfather of Eli, Otis and Chara; and dear brother of Louise Petrella of Warwick, Esther Stamp of Huntington Beach, CA, Joseph Stamp of Johnston and the late Henry Stamp, Anna Vaughn and Elsie Kausch.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Tuesday at 11:45 a.m., followed by Funeral Service in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Providence at 1:00 p.m.
Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
