Mario L. Sepe

of Cranston, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 20, 2023 at the West Shore Health Center Nursing Home in Warwick, Rhode Island. Mario was a devoted husband to the woman of his dreams, Marie, whom he married in 1950. They recently celebrated their 73 Anniversary on November 11. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, he was the son of the late Anthony Sepe and Anna (Capirchio) Sepe. Mario was the loving brother of  Salvatore Sepe, Raymond Sepe, Elena Longo, Gloria Zienowicz, Dorothy Ursillo and the late Anthony Sepe.

Mario served in the United States Army during WW-II and was honored by the Veterans Association at the West Shore Health Center on November 10, 2023 for his honest and faithful service. In addition to working at Brown and Sharpe Manufacturing Company, he also played guitar in a professional 4-member band he created, The Silver Sharps. Mario was most known as the owner of Mario Sepe’s Barber Shop located at 1334 Cranston Street since 1947. He retired at the age of 92 and was celebrated by the Cranston Herald for his 72 years in business as one of Knightsville’s favorite barbers and congratulated on such a storied career in Cranston.

An accomplished fisherman who belonged to the Narragansett Fisherman’s Club, Mario held the record for the largest offshore striped bass, weighing 53 pounds. His passion for fishing was reflected in his barbershop with a plethora of photos, memorabilia, and his famous quote, “The harder I fish, the luckier I get”.  He was also an avid ballroom dancer for 40 years with his adored wife, a successful gardener, a talented pianist whose skills inspired his family, an amazing artist, an enthusiastic cook, a dedicated mushroom hunter, and astute in chemistry and astronomy.

Mario’s positive attitude, worldly knowledge, hard work ethics, untiring efforts, family values and loving heart were his legacy and will continue to inspire future generations. Besides his wife he leaves behind two daughters and two sons: Linda M. Kashmanian and her husband Gary of Smithfield, RI; Carol A. Agnoli and her husband Louis of Cranston, RI; Ronald J. Sepe and his wife Cindy of Old Lyme, CT; and David L. Sepe of Manhattan, NY. He was the loving grandfather of Joseph Agnoli, Michael Agnoli, Steven Agnoli, Lauren DeLucia, Brian Kashmanian, Michelle Boyer Sepe, Victoria Sepe and Jason Sepe. He was the great grandfather of Noah, Scarlett, Gwendolyn, Gia, Ella, Salvatore, Ephraim, Lucy, Elijah, Julianna, Mason, Maximus, as well as many brothers and sister in-laws, nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, RI on Friday December 1st at 11am followed by a mass of Christian burial in St. Mary’s Church, Cranston at 12 noon. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS Friday morning from 9:30am to 11am. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hope Health Hospice & Palliative Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, Rhode Island 02904.
