MARIO S. LATO

97, formerly of West Warwick, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Home in East Greenwich. He was the husband of the late Ethel (Harvey) Lato and the late Mary G. (Costa) Lato. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Carmine and Amelia (DiGasbarro) Lato.

Mario worked for the City of Providence, Parks & Recreation Department for 25 years before retiring. Along with his brothers, he began his career in the family fruit and produce business on Federal Hill, Providence.

He was the devoted father of Sandra E. Lato of Warwick and the late Edward M. Lato; loving grandfather of Alicia Bailey and Michele Liston; loving great-grandfather of Mari and Zachary Bailey and Madison and Emily Liston; beloved uncle of Amelia Lato, and several other nieces and nephews; and dear brother of the late Rudolph, Edward, Vincent and Antonio Lato, Mary Gentile and Elizabeth Corvese.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Wednesday at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church,1525 Cranston St. Cranston at 10 a.m. Interment will be at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
