Marie E. (Capotosto) Vartanian

83, of Cranston, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Miriam Hospital, Providence after a courageous battle with COVID-19. She was the beloved wife of the late Moorad J. “Jim” Vartanian.  Born in Cranston, she was a daughter of the late Cosmo and Catherine (Cardi) Capotosto. Marie was surrounded in thought and prayer by her children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Marie was a deeply devoted wife, mother and grandmother who lived each day for her family. She was the cornerstone of the family, there was none like her. Marie was devout in faith and she possessed a powerful character rooted in conviction and passion for all that she believed in. She was extraordinary in every sense where she drew strength from her faith, love for family and of life.

Marie was homemaker, a bookkeeper, a seamstress, and owner of Dip’z Creamery for several years then retiring to love and serve the needs of her family and of others. Marie is survived by her loving children, Colonel (Ret.) James Vartanian and his wife Christine of Cranston and Maria Giannini. She is predeceased by her loving daughter in-law Judith Vartanian and her son in-law Victor Giannini. She was the cherished grandmother of Kristiana, Michael and Nicholas Giannini and James, Christopher and Matthew Vartanian. Marie was the sister of Luke Capotosto, Bernadette Conte and Cosmo Capotosto all of Cranston and the late Aldo Capotosto and Anna Izzo.

Due to COVID-19 her funeral services are respectfully private.
