Marie L. Martini, 99 of Providence passed away peacefully on June 18, 2023, with her family by her side. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Angelina (Marino) Rini. She was the devoted wife of the late Livio Martini.
She was known for her baked goods, particularly her cookies, cake, and her infamous wine biscuits. Her home was where all of the neighborhood would gather, it was the central hub. Marie and her sisters were very close, in their younger years they would all take the bus “Downcity”, and have shopping trips to Shepherds, that started by meeting under the Shepherds Clock. They would then have tea together, upstairs in the tearoom at Shepherds. In there later years, they would often have dinner together several nights in a row just changing which one would host. You could ask anyone that she ever met and they would tell you that she was simply the sweetest.
She is survived by her three sons Ronald Martini, David Martini, and Thomas Martini. She was the devoted grandmother of David, Lori, and Michael Martini. The cherished great grandmother of Gabriella Martini. She was the sister of Ronald Rini. She was predeceased by her siblings John Rini, Emily Palazzo, Dorothy Laurenzo, Joseph Rini, and Jean Rini. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will leave at 9:45 am on Friday June 23, 2023, from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston. Followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Church, 1525 Cranston St. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery. VISITING HOURS will be held on Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00 pm.
