83, of Johnston died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph E. Hannigan, Jr. who died November 23, 2012. They were married for sixty-two years. Born in Warwick she was the youngest of seven children of the late Ernest and Rose H. (Bedard) Petit. She attended Lockwood High School. Since her marriage in 1950, she had been a resident of Johnston. After spending time as a homemaker, Marie was employed by Annex Glass and T. Sardelli & Sons for over twenty-five years before her retirement. She was an avid bowler for many years accumulating many awards and trophies. She is survived by her three sons, Michael T. and Ann Marie Hannigan of Cranston, Mark E. Hannigan and El Casey of Milton, MA, and Matthew J. Hannigan and Wiebke Hannigan of Eldersburg, MD. She was pre-deceased by a daughter Maureen (Hannigan) Coletta of Johnston, in 1998. She also had seven grandchildren, Shaun Hannigan, Alix and Evan Coletta, Kristen and Kelsey Hannigan, and Peyton and Tatum Hannigan. She was the sister of Leo Petit of DeLand, FL, Theresa Cornell, Presque Isle, MI, and the late Theodore Petit, Agnes Rugel, Florence Debooserie, and Francis Petit. Marie is also survived by her loving friend and caregiver Debby Palermo of Johnston. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Friday at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Johnston. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
