Marie "Mary" (Ascenzi) Ginolfi 94, a resident of Cherry Hill Manor, Johnston passed away peacefully at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital on Saturday evening, November 27, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. Mary was the beloved wife of the late John J. Ginolfi to whom she had been married to for 47 years. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Serafino and Giulia (Ventresca) Ascenzi. Mary worked at the Federal Hill House in Providence for 14 years retiring in 1996. Previously, she worked at the former Zayre's Department Store in East Providence and Imperial Pearl in Providence. Mary is survived by her devoted daughters, Johanne Polisena, Carole Ginolfi and Linda Castaldi all of Johnston. She was the beloved mother-in-law of Vincent Castaldi and the late Vincent Polisena whom she thought of as her sons. Mary is also survived by her only grandchild, Steven Castaldi who was her pride and joy and his wife, Jennifer. Mary was the great -grandmother of Julia Castaldi, Nina and Aria DiNobile and Sophia Polisena. Mary is also survived by her sister-in-laws, Edith, Bruna and Lillian Ascenzi and Josephine Ginolfi and several nieces and nephews. Mrs Ginolfi was predeceased by her siblings Theresa, Joseph, Ida, Dante and Anthony Ascenzi. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY 1278 Park Ave. Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Grace Church George Waterman Rd. Johnston at 11am. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS Tuesday 4-7pm.
