Maria L. Vallone

79, of Cranston passed away Monday September 16, 2024 at home.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Joseph M. and Sara (Santoro) Vallone.

Maria was a Graduate of University of Rhode Island and received her Masters in Italian from Middlebury College. She taught Italian for the Newton School Department from 1972-2003 and initiated the first Italian Program at Newton North HS and the first high school exchange program between the USA and Italy. Maria was awarded the Fulbright Scholarship in Italian in 1978 and was an exchange teacher to China from 1998-1999. Maria was awarded the Human Rights Award from NNHS in 1997.

She was the dear sister of Joseph J. Vallone and the late Sara V. Finck and loving aunt to Scot D.J. Finck and loving great-aunt to Christopher and Griffin Finck.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 10 am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory 1278 Park Ave. Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church Cranston at 11 am. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery Cranston. VISITING HOURS ARE SATURDAY MORNING FROM 8:30 AM -10 AM.
