MARIA V. (GRANDE) PITOCCO

82, of Providence, passed away Monday January 25, 2010 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence. She was married to John Pitocco of Providence for the past 54 years. Born in Venafro, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Carmella (Rocchio) Grande. Maria was employed as a cook at St. Bartholomew Church for 25 years until her retirement. She was a member of the Santa Maria Di Prata Society and an avid gardener. Besides her husband, she is survived by her son Joseph Pitocco of Providence. Maria was the loving grandmother of Nicole Bartis, Britney DeFazzio, Joseph Pitocco, Jr., Anthony Pitocco and also the great grandmother of Jayson DeFazzio. She was the sister of the late Guiseppina Palazzo, Pietro, Alexander, Guiseppe, Francesco and Ludovico Grande. Her funeral will be held on Friday at 9:00 a.m from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME 1278 Park Ave. Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bartholomew Church, Providence at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
