82, of Scituate, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2022 surrounded by her adoring family. She was the devoted wife of Mondo (Amato) Macera for 58 years.
Born in Roccamonfina, Caserta, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Luigi and Assunta (DiDino) DiBiasio.
She leaves her 3 children; Jennifer (Genoveffa) Ricci and husband Lawrence, Mary Jane (Maria Giovanna) Rambone and her husband John, and Mondo (Amato) Macera Jr and his fiancé Cathy Campanile.
Maria was the cherished Nonna (grandmother) to Larry Ricci, Charlie Macera, Nicholas Ricci, Jenna Rose Rambone, John Rambone III, and Abbey Coutcher. She is survived by her three sisters; Livia Samos, Ada Romanelli, Ortensia (Lisa) DiBiasio, and brother Mike DiBiasio. She was the sister to the late John and Remo DiBiasio. She also leaves many loving sister in-laws, brother in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Maria migrated to the United States at the age of 16. She brought many traditions from Italy, such as preserving tomato sauce out of tomatoes from her garden with her family, which will be carried on for generations. She was a breast cancer survivor and spent her days as a homemaker and an outstanding cook. Maria was a fashionista and loved getting her hair and nails done. She was filled with so much happiness, laughter, and joy that radiated to those who surrounded her. Maria was happiest when her family was together. She loved to cook for her friends and family wearing her “mondesina” (cooking smock). She will be remembered by her caring and generous soul and as a matriarch to her family; always caring for and helping her loved ones.
