MARIA (HALLAS) SANTORO

63, of Lincoln, passed away on Saturday April 30, 2011, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, MA. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony N. Santoro, Sr. She was born in Johnstown, NY, daughter of Christina Varney of West Palm Beach, FL and the late James Hallas. She was also the step-daughter of the late Frank Jacovone. Maria attended University of Rhode Island where she received her Bachelor of Science and Master's in Education and was a member of Alpha Delta Phi Sorority. Maria taught kindergarten at Walen Elementary School in North Providence and Home Economics at North Providence High School. After retiring from teaching, she was a manager at Williams-Sonoma in Garden City. She was also a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and Kirkbrae Country Club. She was an avid cook and knitter and also treasured being with her family. She is survived by her loving children, Alexis Santoro Sinnott of Lincoln, Anthony N. Santoro, Jr. of CA and Damian Santoro of Lincoln. Maria was also the cherished grandmother of Autumn Santoro. She was the sister of Peter Hallas of Johnston, Ernie Hallas of Maine and step-sister of Susan Poor of Lincoln. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 9 am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME 1278 Park Ave. Cranston, followed by a Funeral Service in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Oaklawn Ave. Cranston at 10 am. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS: Wednesday 4-8 pm.
