78, of Cranston passed away peacefully on Friday, June 28, 2019 at Kent County Hospital, Warwick. She was the beloved wife of Edward McHugh. They were happily married for the past 59 years. Born in North Providence, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Rita (Gaumond) Costa Mello. Before retiring, Margaret, who was better known as Peggy, was the owner and operator of D & P Soldering in North Providence which she started with her sister, Diane.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her loving children Cheryl Tondreau (and her husband Marc) of Lincoln, Donna Tomaselli (and her son in law Joseph) of Cranston , Edward P. McHugh, Jr. of Warwick; her dear siblings Antonio Mello of Greenville, Sandra Tiernan of Cranston, Gerald Mello of Warwick; her cherished grandchildren Matthew Tondreau and his wife Amy, Jeannine Stark and her husband Nick, Michael Tomaselli, Joseph Tomaselli, Crystal Freeman and her husband Justin and great grandchildren Heaven, Phoenix and Lane Freeman. She was also the sister of the late Diane Tassoni.
Peggy’s greatest gift was sharing her time with her family. Most recently living in Daytona Beach Shores, she enjoyed walking the beach, collecting seashells, spending time with friends, and communicating often with her family.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 9 am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory 1278 Park Ave., Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Immaculate Conception Church, Cranston. VISITING HOURS: Friday 7-9 pm.
