Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, October 29th. She was born in Preston, Lancashire, England. She was the daughter of the Late William and Hannah Summers (Ryan). Her father was a professional Soldier with the Royal Artillery of England. He survived the Battle of The Marne in the early part of World War I. Doreen was a World War II Bride and was the loving wife of John for 62 years. She was a devoted mother to Brian G. Smith of California, Kathy A. Smith, Kevin M. Smith and Patricia L Smith-Romano all of Cranston and her faithful Pets, Princess and Brandy. She was the youngest of 10 children, and she is survived by her sister, Vera Vickers, of Chicago, IL. She was a strong, hardworking woman and was employed by Cabot Manufacturing retiring in 1987. Doreen loved traveling, reading, bird watching and celebrating the holidays but most of all being with her family. She was the devoted wife and mother who openly displayed her love for her family with hugs and kisses and was known for her many phrases such as 'TTFN", "Ta Ta for Now". Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 9 am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME 1278 Park Ave. Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Matthews Church Elmwood Ave. Cranston. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery Cranston. VISITING HOURS: Saturday Morning 8-9am.
