Mrs. Boitano studied Greek and Latin at Classical High School, received a teaching degree from Rhode Island College and a Master's of Arts in Teaching Degree from Brown University. She was a 5th grade teacher at the former Nelson Street School in Providence and later worked as an administrator and writing teacher at Davies Vocational High School in Lincoln. Her love was creative writing, both in teaching and through her own poetry, and in 1959 Brown University published her book "Methodology in Developing Creativity in Children." A longtime member of the Sundial Garden Club, she held the title of Master Judge Emeritus in the Rhode Island Federation of Garden Clubs. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and will be sorely missed.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by George A. Boitano and his wife Susanne, Dr. John F. Boitano and his wife Roxane, Anthony J. Boitano and Margaret M. Boitano. She also leaves four cherished grandchildren: Maia Boitano, Delphine Boitano, Jessica Kelly and George F. Boitano.
The funeral will begin from the Nardolillo Funeral Home - SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Rd. (Rt. 1A), Narragansett on Tuesday, April 26th at 8:45 AM. There will follow a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary, Star of the Sea Church, 864 Point Judith Rd., Narragansett at 10:00 AM. Interment will occur at the RI Veterans Cemetery in Exeter.
