LUDOVICO "LOU" TOMASSO JR

83, passed away Saturday September 17, 2011. He was the husband of 58 years to Gloria (Petrucci) Tomassso.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Ludovico and Maria (Palombo) Tomasso.

Mr. Tomasso was a Finance Director for the Providence Housing Authority for 23 years until retiring in 2010. Previously he was employed as a Financial Manager for the Naval Construction Battalion Center, Davisville and a Controller at the US Naval Readiness Command, Newport.

Lou was a WW-II Army Veteran, served on the Board of Directors for the Italian American Historical Society and the Heritage Harbor Museum, he was a member of Opera Providence, Sons of Italy, East Providence and the Italo American Club and was the President of The Opera Guild. He was an Accounting Major receiving his BS in Business Administration from Bryant College in 1950.

Besides his wife he is survived by his two daughters Diane Tomasso Wenckelium and her husband John of Lincoln and Karen Iacobbo and her husband Michael of Glocester; he was the brother of the late Olga Salzillo, Clara Silvestri, Lucy Petrucci, Mary Ravo, Annunzio and Adolph Tomasso. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 7:45am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory 1278 Park Ave. Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Loreto Church East Providence at 9am. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS Tuesday 4-8pm. Please omit flowers.
