It is with deep sadness and profound love that the family of Lucia “Lucy” (Chirico) Manni, 98, of East Greenwich, Rhode Island, announces her passing, surrounded by those she cherished most on Thursday, February 20, 2025. She was the devoted and loving wife of the late Adolph “Pete” Manni for over 60 years until his passing in 2007. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Carolina (Raro) Chirico and sister to the late Concetta “Connie” Court, Michael, Vito, Frank and Cosmo Chirico.
Lucy quickly made friends wherever she was, whether in her community in Rhode Island or Vero Beach, Florida where she and Pete spent many winters. Her kindness, generosity, and loving heart left a great impression on all who were blessed to have known her. Many have described her as a true angel on earth. She had unwavering faith in her savior, Jesus Christ, and delighted in blessing all her visitors before they left.
She was indescribably proud of her family, whom she loved deeply. Lucy is survived by her four children; Kenneth A. Manni and his wife Eleanor of Oak Harbor, WA; Sharon L. Altieri and her husband Donald of Cranston, RI; Peter Manni and his wife Monica of Hopkinton, MA; and Steven M. Manni and his wife Sherrie of Norton, MA. She was the grandmother of Vanessa Sclama, Stephanie Lombardi, Nathan, Jessica Bennett, David, Matthew, John, Jennifer Ferraro and Zachary Manni, and a great-grandmother of twenty- four.
Relatives and friends are invited to join a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, February 27th 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 1525 Cranston Street, Cranston, RI. She will be laid to rest beside her late husband in Our Risen Christ Garden Mausoleum, in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston, RI.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lucy’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
