89, formerly of Cranston, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at The Village of Waterman Lake in Greenville. He was the beloved husband of the late Joan M. (Demopulos) Latos.
He is survived by his loving children, Dean D. Latos and his wife Cheryl of North Providence, George S. Latos and his wife Patricia of Scituate, and Heidi L. Nelson and her husband Stephen of Smithfield. Christos was adored by six grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was the dear brother of the late Charles J. Latos, Catherine Pinheiro, and Paula Marino.
Christos rose to Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army over a 29-year career and bravely served two tours in Vietnam. He was a starting 60-minute man football player for both Classical High School and the University of Rhode Island. He was inducted into the URI Football Hall of Fame in 2000. Christos was thoughtful, loving, generous, respectful, forthright, honorable, and literally would do anything for anyone. He was a believer in following rules, integrity, and was an inspiration to fellow soldiers, friends, and family. Christos was selfless, volunteering at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church for 20 years. He always had a twinkle in his green eyes, a wink, and a witty thought.
His funeral will be held on Monday at 11:30 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by a Funeral Service in Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 175 Oaklawn Avenue, Cranston at 12:30 p.m. Burial, with Military Honors, will be in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.
